‘Abd Allâh Aḥmad Ibn Muḥammad Ibn al-Mahdî Ibn ‘Ajîba al-Ḥajjûjî al-Ḥasanî naquit en 1160 ou 1161 de l’Hégire, dans le village d’al-Khamîs, au nord du Maroc, non loin de Tétouan. Sa famille appartenait à la descendance chérifienne, issue de Ḥasan, fils de ‘Alî Ibn Abî Ṭâlib et de Fâṭima, fille du Prophète Muḥammad (saw). Cette appartenance à la maison prophétique occupa une place importante dans sa conscience spirituelle, non comme un privilège social, mais comme une responsabilité morale.
