Meriem est née à Alger il y a trente-six ans, elle vit à Paris et enseigne au sein de l’école d’architecture de Paris-Malaquais. Elle a co-fondé l'agence New South avec son associé John Edom en 2015.
Paraphrasant la militante féministe et autrice bell hooks, Meriem a toujours dit que objectif, en tant qu’architecte, était de "mettre la marge au centre."
