About this listen
In this full episode of "The Daniel Veillon Gazette Pod", I start a series called "The Bumps heading to" and in this first set of episodes are the buildup to the first ever Starrcade event: "A Flair for the Gold" in 1983. In this episode, I do play-by-play while watching the July 30, 1983 edition of Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling: Mike Rotundo vs. Golden Boy Grey, The Mid-Atlantic Tag-Team Champions Jack & Gerry, The Brisco Brothers vs. Rick Steamboat & Jay Youngblood, I'm not sure if it's for the titles or not; The NWA United States Heavyweight Champion Greg "the Hammer" Valentine vs. Brett Hart in a non-title match, Gary Hart cuts a Promo for his client, The NWA Television Champion The Great Kabuki, who then faces Keith Larson in a non-title match, Rufus R. Jones announces that he's going to challenger Dory Funk Jr. in a $100,000 match, Roddy Piper cuts a promo about both his suspension from the Mid-Atlantic Territory being lifted & he also talks about his problems with Greg "the Hammer" Valentine, Harley Race cuts a pre-recorded promo where he puts up a $25,000 bounty on Ric Flair to attempt to get rid of Ric Flair for good, "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr. goes against Joel Deaton, Ric Flair responds to the Harley Race promo, and Rick Steamboat comes out and lets everybody know how his Tag-Team partner Jay Youngblood's doing after their match earlier, Flair offers to help Steamboat with the Brisco's, Dory Funk Jr.'s match w/Rufus R. Jones is after this, and then 1/2 of The Masked Assassins (who were considered Dory Funk Jr.'s associates because they were both Managed by Paul Jones) cut a promo about what their plans were for being in the Mid-Atlantic Territory.
