In conseguenza del successo a Vienna come pianista-compositore, Mozart sforna nel biennio 1784-’85 una serie di concerti pianistici in una straordinaria combinazione di quantità e qualità. Infatti nell’arco del 1784 nascono i Concerti n.14, 15, 16, 17, 18 e 19 (K.449, 450, 451, 453, 456 e 459). Anche il 1785 inizia con una composizione tra le più conosciute ed eseguite, il n.20 (K.466) – unico concerto mozartiano nella tonalità di re minore. In ognuna di queste composizioni, sempre distinte da una spiccata originalità e senza mai ombra di routine, si sviluppa e arricchisce l’idea di un vero e proprio teatro strumentale.
