I Couldn't Help But Wander

By: Cerca
  • Summary

  • Join Julia, and Eva, two real-life friends, travel lovers, knowledge seekers, and purveyors of cocktail party napalm (you know, the kinds of fascinating facts you drop at a party and blow everyone’s mind in the process with) for a weekly does of globe-trotting, travel hacks, and travel-inspired trivia.

Each episode, Julia, a writer/producer and woman about town and Eva, a writer and travel editor at Fodors, pick a travel-related theme and invite a fascinating and fun guest on to chat about it. Then, our hosts challenge the guest to a friendly round of travel trivia to find out how much they do or don’t know about the world - and how much wonder there’s left to discover. Even in the most unlikeliest of places. (Did you know that the remains of King Richard the III were found buried under a car park in England? Neither did we until we started working on this show!)

The questions are fun, but it’s the answers - and the conversations and stories they lead to - that are the real heart of the show. Think of us as the pithy travel page of your favorite glossy magazine. But, you know, for your ears!

Whether it’s finding out what the current parisian pastry craze is from a professional tour guide, exploring haunted travel with a paranormal investigator, or answering pressing questions like “do I need to buy you a present if I schlepped all the way to Bermuda for your destination wedding,” I Couldn’t Help but Wander is a show for listeners who love culture, geography, history, and getting to know the world just a little bit better - even from the comfort of their couch.

  • Theme Park Jail, Tinker Bell Tryouts, and the Case for Disney Adults with Lauren Passell
    Feb 13 2025
Is Disney truly the most magical place on Earth… if it’s in Florida? This week, Julia and Eva dive deep into the House of Mouse with unabashedly proud Disney Adult and Writer/Host of the Cerca Guide to Disney World, Lauren Passell. Lauren spills the tea on everything from the most underrated way to do Disney Adulting (hint: it involves a cruise), to the best place to catch the magic kingdom fireworks, to what it’s like auditioning to become a Disney cast member.Plus, in the spirit of the hard hitting journalism the show is known for, the girls tackle some We crucial questions: how young is too young for Disney? Is the new app-based ticketing system kind of terrible? And Is it possible to die at Disneyland? (Allegedly, no. But also… maybe yes?). Plus, what it takes to get kicked out of the very exclusive and very secretive Club 33, why Disneyland’s opening day was basically the original Fyre Festival, and whether or not it’s OK to insist that your travel companions adhere to strict set of rules in order to attain peak Disney Enjoyment. (spoiler alert: It’s not.)P.S. Don’t sleep on the Disney food tips—because if you don’t book your dinner reservation immediately, you’re already too late.Connect with LaurenCheck out Lauren’s Podcast Growth company - named after Tinker Bell - TinkMedia.coRead and Subscribe to her Newsletter for recommendations of more fantastic podcasts (like this one) - Podcast The NewsletterConnect with Julia, Eva, and Cerca!JuliaOn X - @juliamoserrrrOn Instagram - @julamoserrrrOn TikTok - @juliamoserrrrrOn the Web - www.juliamoser.comEvaOn X - @literalleOn Instagram - @evapantsCercaOn Instagram - @cerca_travelOn X - @cerca_travelOn Facebook - /cercaguideOn the Web - www.cercatravel.com---I Couldn’t Help but Wander is Produced and Hosted by Julia Moser and Eva Morreale.Editing and Sound Design by Ryan HammondMixing and Mastering by Julian KwasneskiExecutive Produced by Stacey Book, Dominique Ferrari, and Avi GlijanskyVisit CercaTravel.com for more news on where Cerca is going and to sign up for special access to new features. ---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. • Adventures in BBQing! (Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Brisket) with Daniel Vaughn
    Feb 7 2025
No matter how divided we may become as a country, there is one thing we can all agree on - BBQ is amazing. Of course after we agree on that, we often get into arguments about which style of BBQ is the best… But since our guest today is Daniel Vaughn, the BBQ Editor of Texas Monthly, we think there’s a pretty good chance we know where he stands. And yes, TM has a BBQ Editor, and yes, it’s probably the best job in existence.Join Eva and Julia for a smokin’ hot episode full of juicy tidbits and the best (tri)tips on where to travel - and more importantly - where to eat if you want to go whole hog on this uniquely American culinary tradition. Also, BBQ puns. Lots of BBQ puns. Julia, Eva, and Daniel talk the difference in styles, BBQ Line etiquette, and the emergence of Texas BBQ Fusion.Plus the answer to a question we have all wondered about - what kind of chicken does Beyoncé contractually require to be in her dressing room at each gig?Connect with DanielRead Daniel’s stories on the web - texasmonthly.com/bbqOn instagram - @bbqsnobOn X - @bbqsnobConnect with Julia, Eva, and Cerca!JuliaOn X - @juliamoserrrrOn Instagram - @julamoserrrrOn TikTok - @juliamoserrrrrOn the Web - www.juliamoser.comEvaOn X - @literalleOn Instagram - @evapantsCercaOn Instagram - @cerca_travelOn X - @cerca_travelOn Facebook - /cercaguideOn the Web - www.cercatravel.com---I Couldn’t Help but Wander is Produced and Hosted by Julia Moser and Eva Morreale.Editing and Sound Design by Ryan HammondMixing and Mastering by Julian KwasneskiExecutive Produced by Stacey Book, Dominique Ferrari, and Avi GlijanskyVisit CercaTravel.com for more news on where Cerca is going and to sign up for special access to new features. ---At Cerca, our goal is to help you explore the world like never before. • Travel is For the Birds! And other Birding-Related Puns with Jared Ranahan
    Nov 22 2024
Let’s be honest, the world is… kind of a lot right now. There’s natural disasters due to climate change, uncertainty related to the results of the presidential election, and the unfortunate reality that if you go to see Wicked opening weekend you’ll probably have to endure at least one Idina Menzel wannabe ruining the screening for everyone (seriously this is a thing.)So we’ve decided to combat this with something delightful - Birds! And who better to join them than a travel and wildlife writer, not to mention an avid birder - the similarly delightful Jarad Ranahan! We chat with Jared about the vibrant world of birding, celebrity birds (as in the birds are the celebrities) and which small bird species are also huge a-holes.Plus, birding slang, the illicit substance that’s impacting bird populations, why you should never trust an owl, and a quandary about whether it’s possible to “steal” birds from your neighbors. (Spoiler alert: the bird feeder wars are very, very, real).
