• E102 | Innovation using Cinematic iPhone Footage with Jeff Wood Visuals
    Apr 15 2025

The guest on this episode is a great example of constantly innovating and moving with the times whilst continuing to create outstanding work.

Jeff Wood is a wedding filmmaker who started capturing weddings back around 2008 and has worked with celebrity and luxury clients as well as being an influence for many UK wedding videographers over the past decade.

But rather than just sticking with the status quo, Jeff has embraced the way technology has started to change the industry and has started using his iPhone to provide new opportunities to be creative.

We discuss everything from keeping the name of his business and his choice of equipment open so he could do either photo or video. To sitting on private jets with celebrities, judging awards, monitoring the next generation of wedding filmmakers and what the future holds for wedding filmmakers.

If you are into filming, cinematography and technology then you will really enjoy listening to Jeff describing his processes and how you can use your phone as a high end cinema camera.

This is a real glimpse into the future, but maybe we are already there. A great conversation, I really enjoyed this one.

  • E100 | Delivering What the Client Wants - A Great Insight with Martin & Daiga Cheung
    Feb 7 2025

In this milestone episode (number 100!) I am speaking with Martin & Daiga Cheung who are a married couple providing photography and videography. Although they have separate businesses they are able to offer a combined photo and video package to couples as well as having their own clients, a really great business model to consider for any of you working with a spouse!

We have a great conversation about their experiences of how the industry has changed over the last decade or so and how they feel things are evolving now. They share how important it is to keep the couple at the heart of what we do, rather than getting sidetracked by what we as the creator wants to make. This episode is packed full of great takeaways for photographers and videographers at any stage of business.

  • E99 | 2025 The Year of Hybrid Shooting!
    Jan 9 2025

In this episode I go through why I think this year is the year that Hybrid Photography and Videography shooting will completely blow up. Sure, the past few years there has been a rise of people using both photo and video to tell stories, particularly to market themselves and we have seen the popularity of content creation becoming an integral part of all our businesses.

But I really believe we are at a tipping point where video is no longer an afterthought or a tag on to what consumer / clients / couples want and what businesses need to offer. I feel this year is when it becomes integral to being a creator and technology is almost at a point where there is no longer a reason to not capture both still and moving images as a part of your work.

It's the start of a New Year, so a great time to consider how you want to take your business and your storytelling skills forward into the future. If you have been sat on the fence about trying to use video or photo in your work then hopefully this episode will provide the motivation to take some action, experiment and see where hybrid shooting could take your business.

  • E98 | Beat The Backlog
    Oct 18 2024

It has been a while. I have been working my way through the busy summer, giving 100% to my couples, clocking up the edits, spending time with the family and something had to give...it was the podcast.

Sorry about that, but inspired by the typical post summer season backlog and struggle to find life balance as a small creative business owner I wanted to pass on things I have learnt and developed that may be helpful.

  • E97 | Should you work for free and how to create opportunities
    Aug 2 2024

Working for free always seems to raise some controversy, but are there times when short term sacrifice can lead to longer term success? We will discuss that in this episode with plenty of personal examples of how you can create opportunities out of nothing and the downsides of not setting expectations with people when working for less than you potentially should.

  • E96 | When it goes wrong in the world of weddings
    Jul 16 2024

It is amazing how connected we all are today, and the world of social media has created some amazing marketing opportunities for us all to reach potential clients and speak to an audience. But what happens when it gets used in a more negative way, potentially in a way that impacts our business or even us personally?

On the back of a busy couple of weeks with various viral topics in Facebook groups, Instagram and TikTok in different parts of the world we discuss how we are so close to something effecting us as small business owners and self employed photographers / videographers.

We chat through the Sepia bride story, google gate and discuss some of our own experiences dealing with dissatisfied clients or challenging situations that spill into the public domain.
