About this listen

Our world is being turned upside down in the aftermath of the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breonna Taylor. Countless white Christians are awakening to the reality of racial injustice in America, and are wondering what to do next. Other white Christians are confused or even angered by the notions of white privilege, white supremacy, and systemic racism, and are struggling to know how to be empathetic while disagreeing with the terms at play. In the midst of these different responses we must ask: How *should* white Christians respond to racial injustice?

As a white Christian (and pastor to hundreds of white Christians), I've found myself wrestling with this question a lot. I recently hosted a Facebook Live session for our church where I offered three actions and attitudes as the baseline or starting point for our response to racial injustice. This episode features a clip from the teaching I offered to our church, and I hope it will help you as well.

How should Christians respond to racial injustice?

1. Lament - a posture of empathy

2. Repent - a posture of humility

3. Remember - a posture of worship
