About this listen

Holistic Edge Radio is a podcast that explores choices for wellness to clarify, often cryptic to seemingly simplistic material or regarded as irrelevant to more complicated topics such as new ideas in the environment, or what other cultures in the US have to bring in ways of healing ourselves, others, and the land we live on. It is about a new understanding as these fields change and grow. The show will feature holistic practitioners, medical professionals, sustainability/environment pioneers, energy healers, pet/animal holistic practices, new ideas to address age old problems like hoarding/clutter, addressing psychological and emotional imbalances, ways to address writing, and much more. There will be a tendency to learn more from those located on the East Coast, but this is not a hard fast rule as the program grows.

Matthew Fox will speak to us about the Christmas stories around the birth of Jesus and how his arrival brought out political enemies, but how it is also about what he represented, hope to the many who wanted change in the world from politicians to rich oppressors. We are reminded that it was the poor shepherds, who were asked by angelic beings to come to see Jesus; that it was animals like sheep and the oxen who were present at the birth, not those in power. How the Magi, who were not Jewish, came from afar searching for a king or messiah who could bring about a better life for people that the prophecies spoke about. How Jesus represents a universal God who loves humanity so much that he incarnated into human form to be among us, and by doing so makes everything about us who live in the flesh sacred as well. He speaks about the power of myth and how myth teaches us about wisdom and how myth also represents teachings on morality, which goes beyond rational or factual knowledge about an event. Matthew Fox discusses these points and much more in our talk.

Dr. JacobTeitelbaum is an internist, who now retired and as a young man he was healed of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia by holistic practitioners, which convinced him to pursue a medical career as a holistic doctor after medical school was completed. In this interview he states the importance of one remedy is not for all. You have to test yourself at home to get to the bottom of why you can't sleep. Some people don't have enough protein in their system and may need to eat a hard boiled egg before retiring, others are suffering from immune system problems, others don't know how to calm their anxiety, some have too much light and electrical equipment in their bedroom even if it's just a blue night light, it will trigger your brain to wake up and stay awake; and then there are some who can only get four hours of sleep, no more, He has recommendations for these and other situations so we can learn to overcome the problem and how to view it; getting to sleep and staying asleep. He works with specific supplements which he himself takes, because he feels at the age of 73 he travels and lectures, so he still needs his 9 hours of sleep. This amount of hours is not true for everyone but he points out how some people feel guilty if they need more than 6 hours of sleep. Eight to nine hours is the recommended amount to stay healthy and help the body detox, and reverse problems like obesity which is a primary concern in the US today. If you don't resolve this problem and come to understand how they operate within your own body, things like losing weight might not work anyway because you will gain the weight right back, he points out.

Guest Bio: As a third year medical student while in college he got the "drop dead flu", or Chronic Fatigue/ Fibromyalgia symptoms. He was unable to sleep or think, so he had to drop out of medical school. He became homeless and slept in parks. But with the help of others he got well, and returned to medical school with honors. This set him on a path on how holistic approaches can heal the body as an alternative. He then made it his life’s work to make effective treatments available for everyone with CFS, Fibromyalgia, and chronic pain which has been his life's work. Dr. Teitelbaum, (a.k.a. "Dr. T") is a board certified internist, integrative doctor and nationally known expert in the fields of chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, sleep and pain. Over the years he has helped in the recovery of thousands of people. He regularly appeared in the media, including CNN, FOX National News, USA Today, etc. He has authored over 10 books including the best-selling From Fatigued to Fantastic! Which is where today remedies can be found and his latest book, “You Can Heal From Long Covid: A Clinically Proven Program to Regain Your Health.” He is the principal investigator on 8 studies and 3 medical textbook chapters of effective CFS/Fibromyalgia and Post viral Treatments, and one study on effective treatment of autism. You can also find many answers to your health questions on his popular free smartphone app "Cures A-Z.”
