Hoewel de zorg ogenschijnlijk een totaal andere branche is dan spoorbeheer, merkte Mirjam van Velthuizen-Lormans dat er ook grote overeenkomsten zijn: in beide sectoren staan de operationele processen die 24-7 moeten draaien centraal én er is omgeving met veel stakeholders, waarbij de politiek voortdurend meekijkt.
Van Velthuizen-Lormans ging eind 2021 aan de slag als financieel directeur bij spoorbeheerder ProRail. Maar daarvoor werkte ze jaren in de zorg als bestuurslid en CFO van het Universitair Medisch Centrum Utrecht.
