About this listen

The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word. Then we submit to whatever He says. So, hear God in the Scriptures. That is what we are trying to do and we invite you to do this with us.© 2025 Austin and Joel Christianity Spirituality

  • 47: In the Scroll of the Book it is Written of Me (Psalm 40)
    Oct 13 2025

    Psalm 40

    6 In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,

    but you have given me an open ear.

    Burnt offering and sin offering

    you have not required.

    7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come;

    in the scroll of the book it is written of me:

    8 I delight to do your will, O my God;

    your law is within my heart.”

    Who is this person who is written about in God’s scroll? That is the question of the text. It must refer to Jesus, but why? If we understand why, we will understand that is it also written, possibly, about you and me.

  • 46: The Skin of his Face Shone (Exodus 34:29)
    Oct 6 2025

    Exodus 34:29

    29 When Moses came down from Mount Sinai, with the two tablets of the testimony in his hand as he came down from the mountain, Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone because he had been talking with God.

    Moses looked different after being in God’s presence. Moses' face shown without him knowing it. Just as Moses’ face shown from being in God’s presence and talking with God, so our faces can shine from being in God’s presence. And the world needs us to shine, reflecting the glory of God.
