About this listen
Their journey actually started five years earlier when Jesse's brother Claudio was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer and they began the exhausting process of researching possible treatment options (that’s how many of us in this field began), learning a lot about the healing properties of cannabis which was unfortunately not very accessible at the time. But Claudio’s passing really inspired them to help others and in 2015, they were contacted by Tino Sanchez, whose beloved pit bull Shorty had been diagnosed with Lymphoma and was given 8 weeks to live - Tino wondered if their research about cannabis could save shorty.
The answer was yes! From all the research they had done for Jesse’s brother, Jesse developed a diagnosis-specific cannabis dosing protocol for Tino to administer to Shorty and gave him product suggestions to treat her with. Shorty's cancer was put into remission and she went on to live another 5 years, eventually passing away from arthritis, with her final blood tests showing her levels as being the same as a dog who had never had cancer.
Tino, convinced of the healing magic of cannabis, shared the story with his following on his YouTube channel and Facebook Page, Peace Love & Pitbulls. Thus began The Healing Project's mission: helping people heal their dogs with properly dosed cannabis. Over the years they have helped hundreds of dog owners treat their furry friends for a range of medical conditions, autoimmune diseases and even cancer.
