About this listen

Good afternoon. Hawaii. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel exactly why people move here. Trade winds out of the east, sunshine breaking through those puffy clouds. And 83 degrees of pure perfection. This is postcard weather. In the next 24 hours. Oahu tops out at 81 degrees this afternoon. Mostly sunny with just a slight chance of an isolated shower — nothing to worry about. Winds stay gentle around 10 miles an hour. Tonight drops to 72 degrees under partly cloudy skies. Over on the Big Island, you're sitting at 78 degrees with isolated showers possible. Tonight's when things get a bit wetter — scattered showers develop after sunset with about a 40 percent chance. Low near 66 degrees. Maui takes the crown today. High near 83 degrees with mostly sunny skies and barely a cloud to complain about. Tonight stays comfortable at 67 degrees. Friday looks nearly identical. Scattered showers tick up slightly across Oahu and the Big Island, but we're still talking upper 70s to low 80s. Maui stays mostly sunny. The weekend is gorgeous — mostly sunny Saturday and Sunday with highs in the low 80s. Trade winds ease slightly but stick around. Because Monday night everything flips. Winds shift southerly, deep tropical moisture rolls in. And a cold front approaches from the northwest. Tuesday through Wednesday brings occasional to heavy showers with an 80 percent chance on Oahu. The Big Island and Maui see scattered showers but lower chances. This could linger into the following week with flash flooding becoming a real concern. We'll keep you updated as that system gets closer. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast as confidence improves. That's your forecast — we'll be back tomorrow.
