Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Renowned Actor, Burton Gilliam

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s guest, Burton Gilliam, is a highly popular actor who’s been immortalized for his hilarious performance as “Lyle” the railroad supervisor in the classic Mel Brooks movie, “Blazing Saddles”. We also remember him as “Floyd” the desk clerk in “Paper Moon”. And he played the Colt gun salesman in “Back to the Future Part III”. And he was “Roy Bacon” in “Honeymoon in Vegas”.

He’s also appeared in many more great movies, and some of my favourites are “Thunderbolt and Lightfoot”, “At Long Last Love”, “Farewell my Lovely”, “Hearts of the West”, “Fletch”, “The Getaway”, “88 Hits”, “Drop Dead Sexy”, “Killing Down” and “Return to Vengeance”. On television, he played “Virgil” on “Evening Shade”, and he’s guest starred in dozens of classic TV series including “Cannon”, “The Waltons”, “Charlie’s Angels”, “Alice”, “How the West was Won”, “Soap”, “The Dukes of Hazzard”, “Knight Rider” and “Mama’s Family”, to name just a few. And he’s appeared in a number of terrific TV movies and miniseries including “Remember When”, “The Night That Panicked America”, “The Ransom of Red Chief”, “Dream West”, “North & South: Book 2”, “The Love Bug” and many more. Before he became an actor, he was a very well-known boxer, and he served as a firefighter in Dallas for 14 years. But for over 50 years, he’s been entertaining audiences with that big smile and unforgettable personality that makes every role he plays so memorable.

    Dec 20 2025

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Steve Dorff, Legendary Music Composer & Songwriter

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s special guest, Steve Dorff, is one of the most popular, prolific and successful songwriters and composers of our time. His music is part of the soundtrack of our lives.

He’s written over 20 iconic top 10 hits recorded by some of the greatest music artists in the world, including “I Cross my Heart” by George Strait, “Through the Years” by Kenny Rogers, “Take Good Care of my Heart” by Whitney Houston, “Higher Ground” by Barbra Streisand, “Miracle” by Celine Dion, “I Just Fall in Love Again” by Anne Murray, “Something Bigger than Me” by Dolly Parton, “You’ve Been Leaving me for Years” by Willie Nelson – and believe me, I’m just scratching the surface.

In addition to the stars I’ve just mentioned, his songs have been recorded by even more legends like Anthony Newley, Smokey Robinson, Ray Charles, Ringo Starr, Johnny Mathis, Tom Jones, Cher, Dusty Springfield, Melissa Manchester, Garth Brooks and dozens more.

He’s composed over 40 movie scores including 5 Clint Eastwood movies – and yes, he wrote the title songs from “Every Which Way but Loose” recorded by Eddie Rabbit and “Any Which Way you Can” recorded by Glen Campbell. Some of his other big movies are “Pure Country”, “Tin Cup”, “Honky Tonk Man” and “Babe Ruth”. And he wrote the score for the 2005 TV miniseries, “Elvis” starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

He’s written theme songs and music for classic TV shows including “Growing Pains”, “Murphy Brown”, “Murder, She Wrote” and “Reba”, to name only a few. He’s also composed the music for musical theatre productions including “Josephine: The Josephine Baker Story”, “Lunch”, “Pure Country” and “Say Goodnight”, which is based on the love story of George Burns and Gracie Allen.

He’s also released 3 wonderful albums: “You Set My Dreams to Music”, “It’s Personal” and “Pacific Sunrise”. The list of awards and accolades our guest has received is jaw dropping. 42 BMI Awards, 11 Billboard Awards, an American Music Award, 3 Grammy Award nominations, 6 Emmy Award nominations, the 2017 NSAI Songwriter of the Year Award, numerous lifetime achievement awards, and in 2018, he was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

And if all of that weren’t enough, he also wrote a highly compelling and insightful memoir entitled, “I Wrote That One, Too: A Life in Songwriting, from Willie to Whitney”. This book is a must-read for every music lover. It’s an eye opening, poignant, intensely personal and inspirational journey of perseverance, resilience and the uplifting, healing power of creativity and music.

    Dec 10 2025

Harvey Brownstone conducts an in-depth Interview with Montel Williams, Actor, Media Star, Author

    About Harvey's guest:

Today’s special guest, Montel Williams, is a man I’ve admired and respected immensely, since he first began coming into our living rooms in 1991, with his Emmy-award-winning daytime talk show, which educated, enlightened and inspired us for over 17 years.

The list of accomplishments this man has achieved is nothing short of monumental. He served 22 years in the United States Marine Corps and the US Navy as a Special Duty Intelligence Officer, and received a whole slew of awards, medals and commendations culminating in 2008 with the Navy Superior Public Service Award for his continuous support and recognition of our servicemen and women and their families.

He was the first African American man to host a syndicated daytime talk show, the Montel Williams Show. And since the show ended in 2009, his career has blossomed and diversified even further.

As an actor, he’s appeared in many iconic shows including “Perry Mason: The Case of the Telltale Talk Show Host”, “Matt Waters”, “Touched By an Angel”, “JAG”, “The Sopranos”, “My Name is Earl” and “Guiding Light”, which earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination. He also has 2 shows on the Lifetime channel: “Military Makeover”, which transforms the homes and lives of military families across the country; and he’s a co-host of the popular morning talk show, “The Balancing Act”.

He’s written 9 bestselling books: “Mountain Get Out of My Way: Life Lessons and Learned Truths”, “Life Lessons and Reflections”, “Practical Parenting”, “A Dozen Ways to Sunday: Stories of Hope and Courage”, “Body Change”, “Climbing Higher”, “Living Well: 21 Days to Transform Your Life, Supercharge Your Health, and Feel Spectacular”, “Living Well Emotionally: Breakthrough to a Life of Happiness”, and most recently, “The Sailing of the Intrepid: The Incredible Wartime Voyage of the Navy’s Iconic Aircraft Carrier”.

Since being diagnosed with MS in 1999, our guest has been a passionate advocate for patients worldwide. He works diligently in support of research and education for MS and traumatic brain injury. He’s an outspoken supporter of “Partnership for Prescription Assistance”, which helps low-income patients get free or low-price prescription drugs.

He’s a leading advocate for medical cannabis law reform in America, and he hosts a popular podcast called “Let’s Be Blunt with Montel”, which provides education and information on the cannabis industry. He also has another podcast called “Free Thinking with Montel”, which covers a wide range of topics from wellness to veterans’ issues. His commitment to social justice is exemplary.

He’s executive produced compelling documentaries about pressing social issues like antisemitism, racial profiling, mental health, and the Armenian genocide and persecution of Christians in the middle east. His record of public service is both voluminous and transformative. Over the years he’s been actively involved in charities promoting diversity, the welfare of children, animal rights and the well-being of our military and veterans. He’s worked with the Fisher House Foundation, the Ann Romney Center for Neurologic Diseases, the Research and Recognition Project, and Athletes 4 Care.
