  • Discussing ‘Skybound’ with Laurent Ziliani
    Dec 22 2025

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, where I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.

Pianist and composer Laurent Ziliani wrote Skybound as a musical tribute to his good friend, violinist and pilot Ben Powell. Not only is this a gorgeous track, but it really is a wonderful tribute: this conversation is a perfect one to air just before Christmas. Whenever you listen to this episode, I hope you enjoy it.

Thanks to Laurent for allowing me to use Skybound alongside our conversation.

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, where I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.

Jonathan Karrant’s latest album, Christmas Wish, sits nicely alongside his summer 2025 Live in Concert album, both of which feature the marvellous Joe Alterman Trio.

It was good to discuss music and these wonderful Christmas songs with Jonathan, and I’m grateful to him for allowing me to use clips from Christmas Wish alongside our conversation.

  • A fascinating conversation with Orphy Robinson
    Nov 17 2025

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, where I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.

For this episode, I had a great chat with multi-instrumentalist Orphy Robinson, who I’ve always admired as a musician but also as an influence on the music business and education. Orphy is currently Artist-in-Residence at Cambridge Jazz Festival 2025 and we discuss how that happened, as well as lots of discussion of his background in music. Do check out the list of events happening and get along to hear some great jazz if you’re anywhere nearby.

This is a longer episode - let me know what you think about shorter or longer episodes.

Thanks to Orphy for allowing me to use clips from both When Tomorrow Comes and The Vibes Describes, both on the highly prestigious Blue Note Records, alongside our conversation.

  • Marco Cafolla joins me for a chat in a noisy coffee shop
    Nov 10 2025

Welcome to the latest episode of Harmonious World, where I interview musicians about how their music helps make the world more harmonious.

I was joined in a central London coffee shop by pianist and composer Marco Cafolla to discuss his work with Mama Terra, Federation of the Disco Pimp and solo as Cafolla. Marco is all about collaboration, while taking absolutely responsibility for the quality of his playing, composing and producing.

It was a joy to chat with him about his impressive work, especially having seen him with Mama Terra at Love Supreme in July 2025.

The latest Federation album is Gratuitous and you will find my review of that online soon.

In our conversation, Marco reveals the impending album from Mama Terra, which is expected in the spring.

Thanks to Marco for allowing me to use clips from both Mama Terra and Gratuitous alongside our conversation.
