About this listen

In January 1997, I was asked by Ms. Sheela to fetch a file from her home. Accompanied by Firoz, we noticed a crowd at the local police station. Firoz revealed that Ruby, a classmate, was being questioned in connection with Gorkh's murder.

Gorkh, who loved Ruby deeply, was found dead with a stone tied to him. Ruby had received a letter from Gorkh asking to meet on his birthday night, but she declined. The police suspected Ruby might be involved because of the letter, but Firoz and I believed otherwise.

Later, I witnessed Gorkh’s funeral and Ruby’s tragic suicide, which was a result of her family’s disgraceful actions. The deaths deeply affected me. Even after twenty years, the memories of Gorkh’s and Ruby’s tragic ends continue to haunt me, reflecting ongoing societal issues.
