I'm a divorce attorney & mediator.

I have spent my career working with individuals and families of all races, ethnicities, religions, education levels, political affiliations, and socioeconomic statuses as they navigate divorce.

Yet, no matter the education level or economic resources, it has been my black women clients who find that divorce is more than just a legal process but rather that the decisions made during the process are influenced by our culture, community, and society.

Society's "divorce narrative" is not written with us in mind! The divorce process often finds black women stereotyped, stigmatized or silenced.

Yes, black women get divorced too and we deserve better!

My girlfriends going through a divorce had access to me to explain things, empathize, and to even "call a sista out!"

What I realized very quickly is that it takes a village to get through a divorce, but not everyone has a sister or Soror who is a black woman divorce attorney!

That's why I started Grown Girl Divorce; to educate and empower black women going through a divorce and because sometimes you just need a reminder that…
