We all want certain things for our children. We want them to be healthy and happy. We want them to make good choices, foremost among them being accept Jesus as their Savior. But our kids reach a certain point, and the principles we taught them are working their way in to the specific choices they make. Our minds have a cruise control function, it would seem. We can be driving down a familiar road, paying only a modicum of attention, and wonder when that last mile went by.
