  • #89- God Wants Me To Be Happy: Yes-ish
    Oct 29 2025

Michigan’s officially broken up with summer, and we’re back to hoodies and sock-hats. I’m not mad about that. Fall is my favorite season; it just makes me happy…until it doesn’t. Happiness is pretty fickle. We’re happy…until we’re not. So, let’s talk about all things happy. Even Bob Ross would like this one with his “happy little trees.” We’ll check out the latest lie in our series: Did God Really Say? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “Because the lie isn’t really “God just wants me to be happy.” The lie is actually about God’s character, His intention toward me, and His plan for who He made me to be- which is a reflection of God, not to be god.”

  • #88- God Helps Those Who Help Themselves: Not Exactly, Mr. Franklin
    Oct 22 2025

I love helping others, especially if that means dropping off some homemade soup or donuts. Reverse the roles? Not so much. Many of us (ahem, basically ALL of us) would much prefer to be the helper than the helped. Whether that’s helping out someone in need or just fixing our own mess, we DO NOT, no-way-no-how enjoy asking for help. So, we don’t…because we’ve bought into another lie from Genesis 3. Grab your coffee and let’s tackle the next sneaky, little lie in our series: Did God Really Say?

www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: “They immediately start helping. Helping themselves, because God helps those who help themselves, right? Nope. Not only is that idea never found in Scripture, thank you Ben Franklin who wrote it in Poor Richard’s Almanac, but the concept isn’t even Biblical. God helps those who are helpless to help themselves.”

  • #87- You Are Enough: Nope!
    Oct 15 2025

How’s your week going? Nailin’ it? Nope, me neither. But even if you are meeting and beating your goals, it never feels enough, right? Because it’s not….because we’re not. Not what? Not enough. And that’s good news, honest. It’s true. Our “enoughness” ended the moment we ate the fruit in Genesis 3. And now, well, no matter how hard we try, we’ll never sew enough fig leaves to cover our “not-enoughness.” And some things take a little more than positive self-talk and daily affirmations. So, let’s tackle another sneaky, little lie in our series: Did God Really Say? You Are Enough: Nope!

    www.glordinary.com

Here’s a small excerpt: “I can’t say enough positive affirmations, love myself first, or manifest my supreme future. It will not work because I.am.not.enough, and neither are you. There are no amount of fig leaves to cover up what was ultimately uncovered that day in the Garden. Christ is the covering, once and for all. And that’s the good news.”

  • #86- Be True To Yourself: Oy Vey!
    Oct 8 2025

Do you find yourself sucked into stories desperate for the truth? Like, '“Yes, but what actually happened?” You’re not alone. The vast majority of us just want to know the truth about any given number of things. So, what is the truth? Well…, things get a little sticky when we start hearing “versions” of the truth. Subjective truth. Hmm… sounds like a good conversation. Grab a cup and let’s chat through the first lie in our series: Did God Really Say? www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Thank you, linguistic theft or post, post-modernism, but nevertheless, here we are. Exchanging factual, objective truth for subjective truth. You see subjective truth is completely different from objective truth. Instead of being grounded in facts, evidence, and reality, subjective truth is built on opinion and perspective, on feelings and experience. Subjective truth is how the world seems to you, to me. It’s “true for me but maybe not true for you.” This is my truth. I’m living my truth. Speak your truth. But that’s some slippery ground because now we’re no longer talking about reality; we’ve entered into our perception of reality.”

  • #84- Results: Did I Do Enough?
    Sep 24 2025

That’s a wrap. There’s nothing left to do but sit and wait. Don’t you hate that feeling? Waiting for results. Whether it’s medical tests, election outcomes, or just “holding your breath” that nothing goes wrong- oh, yes- we’ve all been there.

Let’s take one last lap, one final bow, as we finish out our “Open Minds” series. We’ll tackle some deeply-rooted, age-old questions surrounding our performance with a Matthew 25 episode.

www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "Yet, somewhere along the way, I mixed things up- not just once, but twice. You see, I’m not always working for the right “master.” I find myself striving to hear “well done” from a multitude of people and places, including my own pride. And it gets me in trouble when I twist myself in knots, walk across fire, and fail to put my own oxygen mask on just to please everyone else."

  • #83- In All Things: How To Move Forward
    Sep 17 2025

Another day, another week. Yet, life feels different. Life is different. Different than a week ago.

By now we’ve all seen the videos, the talking points, the clips…again and again. How do we un-see the images? How do we un-read the headlines? How do we un-hear the last week? We’ve been swept into a trauma loop playing on repeat deep within our souls. Where do we go from here? Join me for a special episode on grief, healing, and hope after Charlie Kirk's assassination. www.glordinary.com Here’s a small excerpt: "It’s hard to understand how God could bring good from some things, let alone all things. But He is an “in all things” God. He is the Good-Maker! It’s not that all things lead to good. No, the emphasis isn’t on the “all things.” Murder is murder. Sin is sin. The emphasis is not on “all things.” No, the emphasis is on God- His power, His capability, His ability, His confidence, His assurance, His authority, His command, His goodness. It’s just who He is. Of course He’ll bring good in all things. That’s what He does because that’s who He is!"
