Dopo aver frequentato l'Istituto d'arte "Dosso Dossi" a Ferrara, dove seguì i corsi di Maldarelli, Legnani e dei fratelli Angelo e Giovan Battista Longanesi-Cattani, nel 1914 si diplomò in Plastica all'Accademia delle Belle Arti di Bologna sotto Enrico Barberi, dove frequentò le lezioni assieme a Giorgio Morandi, Severo Pozzati, Gino Marzocchi e Vitale Vitali, al quale dedicò nel 1914 uno dei suoi primi ritratti.
Nel Museo Civico del Belriguardo sono esposte diverse opere dello scultore: disegni, terecotte, terrecotte patinate (sua grande particolarità era la patinatura ottenuta sia per raschiamento che per reazione di agenti chimici), gessi.
