  • The Art of Costume Design pt. 1 (feat. Ashley Kae Snyder & Jessica McLaughlin)
    Sep 15 2025

This week, we’re stepping into the world of costume design with two incredible guests: costume designer Ashley Kae Snyder and writer/filmmaker Jessica McLaughlin. Part one of our two-part series highlights three unforgettable films and the visionary designers behind them.

    • Ashley brings us Tarsem Singh’s The Fall (2006), where Eiko Ishioka’s breathtaking costumes blur the lines between imagination and reality. We talk about the Bandits' best looks, the way costumes mirror a child’s perspective, and how they seamlessly interact with setting and cinematography.
    • Jessica takes us into the wild and controversial world of Ken Russell’s The Devils (1971), with costumes by Shirley Ann Russell. We cover everything from masks and subliminal messages in the wardrobe, to its commentary on gender and sexuality, and the film’s notorious history of censorship.
    • And finally, we close out the show with Bella's pick, Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010). Where Colleen Atwood’s Oscar-winning designs gave Alice endless looks—from emo-influenced beginnings to fantastical transformations. We share our favorite Alice costumes, what worked (and what didn’t), and whether or not these costumes can stand the test of time

Three films down, three more to go—don’t miss part two of our costume design series next week!

  • 90 - Are You Ready For Some FOOTBALL (FILMS)?!
    Sep 8 2025

Football season is upon us! And to celebrate the return of America’s real past time, Nick and Bella are going deep on some of the more memorable football films this country has ever produced.

    • We begin with a modern classic, the Denzel Washington-led film Remember the Titans, which is based on an incredible true story.
    • Second, a rarely seen hidden gem, All The Right Moves, which stars a young Tom Cruise and is directed by legendary cinematographer Michael Chapman.
    • Lastly, you, our audience, voted for: the gritty and grounded Friday Night Lights - another film based on a true story that sparked a network television show.

Let us know what you think of these films, and let us know what your favorite football film is.

  • Coming of Age Films (90s - 2010s)
    Sep 1 2025

This week, we're talking about three outstanding coming-of-age stories that capture the highs, lows, and messy in-betweens of growing up.

First up, is The Perks of Being a Wallflower (2012), Stephen Chbosky's heartfelt look at friendship, trauma, and finding your place in the world.

Then we move to Catherine Hardwicke's Thirteen (2003), a raw and unflinching portrait of adolescence and rebellion.

And finally, we dive into Dídí (2024), Sean Wang's semi-autobiographical debut that beautifully balances humor, identity, and the awkwardness of early teenage years.

Each film captures the heartbreak and the hope of finding out who you are on the way to becoming your true self.
