About this listen

Every six months, leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather to share messages in general conference. This podcast consists of an in-depth look at each of these messages. In particular, the hosts identify the invitations that were extended by the speakers, and then discuss ways that listeners can become "doers of the word" and take action on these invitations. The hosts for this podcast are Mitch Peterson and Clay Soelberg, both of whom are active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The views expressed in this podcast are those of its creators.Mitch Peterson and Clay Soelberg Christianity Spirituality

  • What to Do If Your Life's Recipe Tastes. . . Off — Elder John D. Amos, "The Good News Recipe"
    Jan 26 2026

01/25/2026 S6E51, Episode #212, Elder John D. Amos, General Authority Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, October 2025 General Conference, "The Good News Recipe."

Clay and Mitch were joined by special guest, Kayla Shields. As Elder Amos's message centered on a recipe analogy with Jesus Christ being the "secret ingredient," we were thrilled to have Kayla share her faith and experiences cooking in the Lion House Pantry, a restaurant in Brigham Young's former Salt Lake City residence.

We discuss Elder and Sister Amos's very impressive backgrounds in nuclear engineering and at NASA, how to find "recipes" in the scriptures, and Kayla shares a helpful story of what to do if something feels like it's gone wrong in your life plan.

Bonus: our newsletter subscribers are receiving Sister Amos's famous jambalaya recipe!
