In this episode I sit down with Pete Wright — a finance director, husband, father, and accidental ultra-athlete. Pete wasn’t always a runner. In fact, there was a time when he was out of shape, without clear goals or purpose. But that all changed when he took on the London Marathon, sparking a fire that led him to one of the toughest endurance races on the planet—the Marathon des Sables.

Pete shares his methodical approach to tackling big goals—breaking them down into a plan and executing with relentless focus. But even the best-laid plans don’t always go smoothly. We dive into his experience at the Dragon’s Back Race, a brutal 380Km multi-day event where he faced unexpected struggles and ultimately had to pull out. That setback, however, only fuelled his comeback.

He bounced back in a big way—taking on the Jungle Marathon in the Amazon, where he battled injury, heatstroke, and even a close encounter with a Jaguar to get to the finish line.

We conclude by talking about Pete's gruelling Trans Atlantic row and how his mindset and visualisation strategy powered him to success

This is a story about resilience, overcoming failure, and proving to yourself that you can come back stronger.

If you’ve ever faced self-doubt, struggled with setbacks, or needed a reason to keep going, this episode is for you.
