Leading Western Australian arts organisation Fremantle Arts Centre gives you a behind the scenes peek into the artmaking process of musicians, visual artists and craftspeople. FAC Chats uncovers the stories behind artworks and the people who make them.


Housed in a gothic heritage building in Fremantle’s east end, Fremantle Arts Centre is the City of Fremantle’s premier arts service and one of the leading arts organisations in Australia. FAC presents contemporary visual art exhibitions and a varied program of concerts and events from local, national and international artists. With a wide range of art courses for adults and kids, an Artist in Residence program, FOUND Shop which sells the largest range of WA-designed wares, a quaint café and beautiful leafy grounds, there are always plenty of reasons to visit.


FAC’s commitment to supporting local artists is at the heart all of the centre’s programming and activities.

    Timothy Nelson, Odette Mercy and Jon Fernandes are fixtures of Western Australian music. Between them, they’ve won multiple WAM Awards and their talents have seen them traverse the folk, pop, rock, hip hop, soul and funk worlds. All three artists will appear at Fremantle Arts Centre’s upcoming Gallery Sessions, an intimate series of shows in our Main Gallery and Pavlich Room held every Thursday in August. Here they talk about the behind the scenes grind that goes into a great live show - and even more importantly - a great song.

  • Episode 7 - Revealed Exhibition 2020: New and Emerging WA Aboriginal Artists. A Conversation with Natalie Davey and Jessica Jubb

    The Revealed Exhibition, currently open at Fremantle Arts Centre, showcases over 100 of the best new and emerging Aboriginal artists from Western Australia’s remote and regional art centres, as well as independent and Noongar artists from metropolitan Perth and the South West.

    In this episode, Revealed coordinator Katherine Wilkinson speaks with jewellery maker and Revealed artist Natalie Davey from Mankaja Arts in Fitzroy Crossing and Perth jeweller Jessica Jubb. Both artists create work inspired by the natural environment they live in and were able to swap creative ideas while Jubb, a non Aboriginal artist, lived and worked in Fitzroy Crossing.


    Revealed is showing at Fremantle Arts Centre until Sunday July 26.

    WA creative and broadcaster Andrea Gibbs co-founded storytelling platform and event Barefaced Stories with Kerry O'Sullivan in 2010. Since then it has become a fixture of the Perth arts scene, with countless everyday people baring their souls on stage as part of an intimate Barefaced Stories show. FAC was due to host another Barefaced Stories earlier this year but the event was postponed due to COVID19. In this Episode of FAC Chats we speak to Andrea about the future of Barefaced Stories and the importance of a good yarn during these strange times.
