I'm Edwin Counsell and I'm trying to make some sense of life and the world at an uncertain time. “For Godsake!” is one of those expressions that can be said in so many ways, summing up the core of faith, the depth of despair or the frustration of a moment. I hope my “For Godsake” podcasts wills entertain you, and also challenge and console you, with the things I explore, the places I visit and, perhaps most of all, by the people I meet along the way. I’ll be sharing some of my passions, with everything from food and football… to punk rock and prayers… and trust me, making some sense out of all THAT has been a lifetime’s work for me!


Oh, and I forgot to say, I'm also a priest….so I'm wondering what it means to do all this… and to do it “For Godsake!”

    This episode of my podcast is all about SOIL, for Godsake!


    I’ll be visiting the heart of the countryside and meeting up with some of the people whose life and work ‘earths’ them, quite literally, in that community.

    I’ll be visiting a fabulous church that reflects its rural roots in its work and witness, meeting a 3rd generation farmer to take the temperature of the farming community and the farming industry today…


    … and I’ll be enjoying a traditional Harvest Supper, and discovering just what Harvest-time means to people today.

    I’ll be having a chat with some booksellers, a local writer and, also, with some people who’ve been telling me about their favourite books… including the story of a holy book, that’s become really important to one particular young lady.

    So c’mon, open the book… turn the page… start a new chapter… don’t get left on the book shelf … for Godsake!

    We’re going to visit my local beach… call in to a late Stone Age burial site, a few miles away… and I’m also going to be chatting to some of the people in the community of Llantwit Major, for whom some lumps of rock that were carved more than a thousand years ago, have come to play a very special part in their lives and in their hearts today.
