  • INTRODUCING REFLECTIONS #1: The Self-Starters, and #2: The Virtuous Creative Loop
    Mar 22 2026

Introducing Follow Your Dream Reflections - a new feature of the podcast where from time to time Robert shares observations drawn from his many conversations with remarkable creative artists.

After more than 725 conversations with artists from around the world, Robert has begun to notice certain patterns about creativity and the artistic life.

Here are the first two Reflections.

#1: The Self-Starters. In this Reflection, Robert discusses one of the most striking patterns he has observed: how many great artists are self-starters who discover their passion and pursue their craft from a very young age.

#2: The Virtuous Creative Loop. In this Reflection, Robert describes what he calls the virtuous creative loop — the idea that conversations with artists can lead to relationships, collaborations, and new creative work. In other words, conversation becomes connection, connection inspires creativity, creativity leads to new art, and that new art is then shared globally.

  • 5th Anniversary Celebration!
    Mar 21 2026
Hi everybody, and welcome to our 5th Anniversary celebration! I started this podcast during the pandemic when musicians like me could neither perform nor even rehearse. I needed something creative to do, and someone suggested to me that I should start a podcast. But I had no idea what that was. I had never even listened to one.But the more I looked into it the more I thought why not give it a shot. I had no audience and no guests, but I did have an idea - to encourage people to follow their dream, just as I had followed my youthful music dream later in life.So on March 21, 2021 I aired my first show. My guest was “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, America’s most famous radio personality, a friend of mine and a true National Treasure. Bruce introduced the Beatles at Shea Stadium in 1965! And from there I was off to the races. The show started to catch on and grow. It took two years to get to 1 million downloads. Today we’re at 4.5 million downloads with listeners on every continent in 200 countries! I’ve now released over 725 episodes. My guests are all world class creative artists - musicians, actors, authors, directors, photographers, storytellers, even poets. My interviews are conversations, with humor and respect. And I’m pleased to say that some of my guests have become musical collaborators with me as well, which is the icing on the cake.I want to thank you, the audience, for making this show so popular. I look forward to year 6. As I like to say, keep on rockin - and we’ll see you in the next episode.—-----------------------------------------------------------The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries! • Tribute to BERT KAEMPFERT. German Orchestra Leader And Hit Songwriter. "Strangers In The Night", "Danke Schoen", "L-O-V-E". Produced "My Bonnie" With The Beatles!
    Mar 14 2026
This is a tribute to Bert Kaempfert, German orchestra leader and songwriter who was responsible for some of the biggest and most important songs of the pop era, including signature hits of Frank Sinatra and Wayne Newton. And he had a major impact on the career of the Beatles too.Kaemphert was born in Hamburg in 1923 and studied at the Hamburg School of Music. He formed an orchestra and had his first hit in 1960 with “Wonderland By Night”, which turned him and the orchestra into international stars. In 1961 he launched the recording career of the Beatles when he produced a song called “My Bonnie” for Tony Sheridan and hired the Beatles as the backing band. At the same session he recorded the Beatles first singles, “Ain’t She Sweet” sung by John Lennon, and “Cry For A Shadow”, a song composed by John and George Harrison.Kaempfert composed the music to “Strangers In The Night” for Sinatra. Jimi Hendrix worked a bit of that song into his solo in “Wild Thing” at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. And Kaempfert wrote the music for the song “Danke Schoen”, which to this day is Wayne Newton’s best known song.Kaempfert also wrote the music for the song “L-O-V-E” which was a hit for Nat King Cole, and “A Swingin Safari”, which became the theme song for “The Match Game” on TV. —----------------------------------------------------------- The Follow Your Dream Podcast:Top 1% of all podcasts with Listeners in 200 countries!
