Im heutigen Kapitel kommt es in der Gemeinde zu Spannungen, weil die griechischsprachigen Witwen bei der täglichen Versorgung übersehen werden. Um dem abzuhelfen, wählen die Apostel sieben Männer aus, darunter Stephanus, die für diese Aufgabe zuständig sind, damit die Apostel sich weiterhin auf Gebet und Verkündigung konzentrieren können. Stephanus, voller Gnade und Kraft, wirkt große Zeichen und Wunder, wird aber von Gegnern angeklagt und vor den Hohen Rat gebracht, wo falsche Zeugen gegen ihn aussagen.
