Was im Film „Free Willy“ Fiktion ist, soll für Willys Orca-Darsteller Keiko auch Realität werden. Eine Stiftung wird gegründet und Millionen von Dollar gesammelt, um den Orca freizukaufen. Doch die Auswilderung gestaltet sich schwerer als erwartet. Jahrzehnte lang hat Keiko sich an Becken, Menschen und gefrorenen Fisch gewöhnt. Das ist auch bei den Delfinen so, die in deutschen Zoos leben. Viele von ihnen sind sogar im Tiergarten geboren, haben das Meer nie gesehen. Dieses Problem hat auch Zoodirektor Jörg Adler, als er 2012 eine polarisierende Entscheidung für das Delfinarium in Münster getroffen hat.
