 In Folge 32 reisen Shaggy Schwarz und Prof. Dr. Sascha Skorupka durch die Geschichte der Musikformate: von Thomas Edisons Phonograph und Emil Berliners Grammophon über Vinyl, Compact Cassette und Walkman bis zur CD, MP3 und Streaming. Dabei erklären sie anschaulich, wie Schallplatte und Kassette physikalisch funktionieren, warum analoge Aufnahmen rauschen, wie Laser eine CD auslesen – und weshalb MP3 mithilfe von Psychoakustik Daten komprimiert. Auch der Wandel vom physischen Tonträger zur Cloud-Datei, Napster, iPod und Spotify werden beleuchtet. Am Ende steht die Frage: Hören wir Musik heute anders – vielleicht oberflächlicher – als früher?
