Jeder spricht mit einer gewissen Melodie und einem flexiblen dynamischen Rhythmus. So frei wie ein gesprochener Satz klingt, so frei klingt in der Musik eine Rubato gespielte Phrase. Erst wenn man einen gesprochenen Rhythmus einer proportionierten Zählzeit unterordnet, etwa wie beim Rap, bekommt man einen konstanten Rhythmus bzw. Tempo.
