Re-Introduction: Who We Are & How We Got Into Van Life

If you’re new here, hey — we’re Frankie and Alex, and this is FnA Van Life.

We started traveling full-time a few years ago because we wanted more freedom, more time together, and a different way to experience the world than the typical 9-to-5 life.

What started as van life has evolved over the years into trucks, trailers, boats, and whatever setup makes sense for the season we’re in — especially now that we’re traveling with a toddler.

We share the real side of life on the road: the amazing places, the things that break, the stuff you don’t see on Instagram, and how we figure it out as we go.

This channel isn’t about perfection — it’s about adventure, family, and learning as we move.

  • #166: Truck & Trailer vs Van Life: What We Learned on Vancouver Island
    Dec 5 2025

We just spent 3 months living in our brand-new truck + trailer build… and it did not go how we expected. 😅 In our first ever video version of the FnA Van Life Podcast (Episode 166), we’re back in Canada, cozy in our “non-schmancy” bedroom studio, unpacking the whole wild season on the road. From a rushed trailer build and a full-circle return to Northwest Nomads with Everly, to chasing bears at a salmon hatchery, going whale watching off Vancouver Island, and realizing we accidentally created a serious condensation + mold problem in our new rig (yep… fun), we’re breaking down what really happened and why we ultimately decided to drive home instead of continuing on to Baja.We also chat about:Pros and cons of truck + trailer vs van life (with a toddler in tow)What we’d do differently on a “shakeout trip”The reality of burnout as full-time travelers + creatorsHow we’re embracing different seasons of life: travel seasons vs home/routine seasonsPotty training on the road, mustard gas in the toilet (don’t do what we did), and Everly’s huge language leapIf you enjoy hanging out with us in this new video format, let us know in the comments, share it with a friend who loves van life, and don’t forget to subscribe so you don’t miss future episodes—whether we’re in a van, a trailer, or parked up at home figuring it all out in real time. 💛Thanks for being here and helping us live this FNA life. How to support the channel Click here https://patreon.com/fnavanlifeBe sure to join the fam!
