  • Propellers of Growth | Interview with Mark Flaman | Flaman Connect Podcast
    Jun 5 2025

The future of farming goes airborne. Mark Flaman catches us up on the history of mapping and spraying drones, and why they’re a viable alternative to ground spraying. Then, he details the astounding capabilities of multispectral camera technology, the DJI Agriculture software suite, and DJI’s intuitive T50 aerial sprayer.

Learn how these innovations can make light work of evaluating crop conditions, setting spray routes, locating obstacles, and guiding drones safely back to home base for recharging. Mark also discusses transport considerations, operating best practices, and what our current drone customers have to say.

Last, but not least, he explains why Flaman chose DJI drones over competitor models that came with some mighty bold claims.

  • Saskatchebananawan | Interview with Dean Sopher | Flaman Connect Podcast
    Apr 23 2025

Move over wheat, canola, and lentils. Make room for bananas, lemons, limes, oranges, figs, and other sweet and exotic treats you wouldn’t expect to survive a Saskatchewan winter. One innovative grower is showing how the province’s bounty can become tastier and more diverse.

Former Saskatoon city boy Dean Sopher tells Mitch, Regan, and Trevor how he passed on promising career prospects in computer programming and commerce to become an off-grid produce pioneer. Now, as owner and operator of Arkopia Greenhouse Homestead, he grows a variety of exotic plants – including banana trees – in a passive solar greenhouse he built himself. He’s also raising grass-fed livestock and freeze-drying delicious, long-lasting fruit smoothies.

Dean has some sound advice for those considering permaculture and solar-powered regenerative farming – and wait until you hear how low his power costs are.
