  • The 7 Lifestyle Habits That Can Protect Your Brain At Any Age with Dr Dale Bredesen #592
    Nov 5 2025
Alzheimer’s disease is something many of us have seen affect our parents or grandparents, and it can feel like one of the most daunting challenges of ageing. But what if the narrative we’ve been told isn’t the whole truth? What if prevention – and even reversal – is possible? Today, I’m delighted to welcome Dr Dale Bredesen to my Feel Better, Live More podcast, a conversation I’ve been looking forward to for many years. An internationally recognised expert in the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, Dale’s career has been guided by a simple idea: that Alzheimer’s as we know it is not just preventable, but reversible. His dedicated pursuit of the science that makes this a reality has placed him at the vanguard of neurological research and led to the discoveries that today underlie the ReCODE Protocol™. As well as multiple scientific publications, Dale has written about his findings and research in his first book: ‘The End of Alzheimer’s’, and his very latest book The Ageless Brain is a fantastic read about the simple things we can all do to improve the health of our brains today and across the duration of our lives. In this powerful conversation, we discuss: Why Alzheimer’s is not one single disease, but the end result of multiple systems in the body becoming imbalanced. The four stages of cognitive decline, and why identifying problems early can be a game-changer for prevention and treatment. The role of genetics, including ApoE4, in dementia risk, and why knowing your genetic status can empower you to take action. How inflammation, toxins and energy deficits all contribute to brain decline – and what we can do to address them. Real-life case studies of people who have improved, even those in the early stages of dementia. The seven key lifestyle factors that can protect and optimise brain health at any age, from diet and exercise to sleep, stress and detoxification. Dale also shares his vision of a future where cognitive decline is no longer seen as an inevitable part of ageing, but as something we can act on early – much like we already do with heart disease or cancer - and this opens the door to simple, everyday steps we can all take to protect our brains. If you’ve witnessed Alzheimer’s in your family, it’s easy to feel powerless. But as Dale explains, there is much we can do to reduce our risk, support brain health and hold onto the connections and memories that matter most. I hope you enjoy listening. • BITESIZE | Do This Every Day to Feel Less Stress, More Joy and Boost Your Physical & Mental Wellbeing | Dr Dacher Keltner #591
    Oct 31 2025
Today’s guest proposes that awe is an emotion that’s all around us, waiting to be discovered – and in doing so, we can begin to transform our health and lives for the better. Feel Better Live More Bitesize is my weekly podcast for your mind, body, and heart. Each week I’ll be featuring inspirational stories and practical tips from some of my former guests. Today’s clip is from episode 340 of the podcast with professor of psychology and author of the book The New Science of Everyday Wonder and How It Can Transform Your Life, Dr Dacher Keltner. Dacher has spent decades studying the science of happiness and in this clip, he shares how experiencing awe can transform our physical and mental wellbeing and why one of the ways we can access this best is through something called ‘collective effervescence’. I truly believe that Dacher’s work can help all of us find greater meaning and greater health. He’s done a fantastic job of finding the science to support his words, but I think we also know intuitively that what he’s saying makes perfect sense. • Healing the Body with Meditation: Simple Daily Practices For Health & Happiness with Henry Shukman #590
    Oct 29 2025
Do you ever feel as if you’re too busy to meditate, or that you’re simply not very good at it? This is something that so many people experience, yet today’s guest believes that this is ONLY because of a fundamental misunderstanding about what meditation really is. Henry Shukman is an authorised Zen Master and Spiritual Director of the Mountain Cloud Zen Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Over the years, Henry has taught meditation at organisations including Google, Harvard Business School and the Esalen Institute, AND he is also the co-founder of ‘The Way’ meditation app, which offers a unique pathway of training designed to help people deepen their practice. Henry is ALSO an award-winning poet and the author of several books, including his latest ‘Original Love: The Four Inns on the Path of Awakening’, which explores meditation as a path to compassion, healing and presence. In our conversation, we explore how meditation can reconnect us with kindness, compassion and a deeper sense of being alive, including: Why meditation isn’t about achieving something new, but about rediscovering love – whether that’s compassion for ourselves, care for others or a deeper sense of connection with life itself How even just five minutes each day can begin to calm the nervous system, ease stress and help us feel more present Why kindness and compassion sit at the heart of health and happiness, and how practices like meditation help us embody them more fullyHenry’s personal story of living with severe eczema, and how meditation helped him transform both his physical health and his relationship with himself The “four inns” of meditation – mindfulness, support, absorption and awakening – and how they offer a clear and practical roadmap for practice Practical, accessible ways to bring meditation into life, from stacking it with other habits to finding moments of stillness amid a busy day This episode is a great reminder that meditation isn’t about adding another chore to your list or trying to empty your mind of all thoughts. Many people find it difficult at first and assume they’re not cut out for it, but as Henry explains, there’s no such thing as a bad meditation – the only one that doesn’t count is the one you don’t do. It’s about pausing, being still and coming back to the peace and presence that are part of being human. In a world that constantly pushes us to do more, Henry’s message is a reassuring one: that peace, kindness and love are not rewards to be earned, but parts of who we already are. Reading Henry’s most recent book had a profound impact on me, and I hope that this conversation brings you some of the same insight and inspiration. I hope you enjoy listening. I have been listening to this podcast for more than a year now . It’s absolutely amazing . I enjoy his genuine input and his curiosity and desire to understand the topic at hand and apply the concept to everyday life of ordinary people.
The podcast introduced to me to his books which were pleasure to read . It’s a way of life that cost nothing but has disproportionate benefits .
