Fathuma ist 19 Jahre alt und kam als unbegleitete 14-jährige nach Bremen. Sie spricht Tigrinya, die Sprache, die in Eritrea gesprochen wird. Sie wurde in Tserona geboren und aufgewachsen.
Seit zwei Jahren leben ihre Mutter und ihre Schwester in Äthiopien, nachdem Fathuma sie zur Flucht aus Eritrea überredet hatte, aber die Einwanderngsbehöde ließ sie nicht nach Deutschland einreisen, obwohl man ihr eine Familienzusammenführung gestattet hatte.
