Episodes
  • Behind the Scenes of Clinical Education Events with Rebecca Searston
    Feb 20 2026

Rebecca Searston, Conference Manager in Postgraduate Clinical Education, joins host Pipp Deval to demystify how UHL plans and delivers courses, study days and conferences—from locking in dates and venues to managing last‑minute curveballs with calm, practical checklists.

    In this episode:

    • Why the date is the first critical decision—before any other planning
    • Choosing venues (in‑house vs external) and working with Leicester Marriott, Tigers/Devonshire Place, and Holywell Park
    • The two things delegates talk about most: catering and parking—and how to get them right
    • What the Conference Service can handle end‑to‑end (marketing, bookings, payments, accreditation liaison, on‑the‑day support) and typical pricing (£25 per delegate, with an introductory offer)
    • Staying calm with anxious course directors, tailoring reassurance, and using robust checklists
    • Upcoming example: supporting a weekend FAMUS ultrasound course at the Leicester Marriott

Guest Podcast Host: Pip Divall, Clinical Librarian Service Manager (UHL)

    Sep 16 2025

In this episode I talk to Rikesh & Tobias, two anaesthetic residents who have set up an anaesthetic skills course for Foundation Doctors.

Lots of tips here for anyone thinking of doing similar. Next Anaesthetic Skills for Foundation Doctors course is on 1st October 2025 at the LGH. You book on via the UHL Clinical Education courses webpage.

If you can't make that one then there are plans for another in Feb 2026. You can contact Tobias on Tobias.Mill@nhs.net
