Mirjam Boomert, geboren en getogen Vlaardingse (1965) kijkt als autodidact kunstenaar met een open blik naar haar omgeving en geeft in werk en woord weer wat ze waarneemt.
Voelen is belangrijk, fysiek en mentaal, er komen veel prikkels binnen in haar hoofd en als tegenwicht voor deze chaos gebruikt ze vaak ongekleurde natuurlijke materialen.
Er komt een verscheidenheid aan disciplines voorbij, o.a. fotografie, textiel en poëzie, die ze bij voorkeur met elkaar verbindt. Als drummer is ritme belangrijk voor haar, dit werkt ook door in haar gedichten.
Ze zoekt de grenzen op van materialen: wanneer functioneert iets nog zoals het bedoeld was en in hoeverre is dat belangrijk?
