Ministerstvo zdravotníctva už dva roky sľubuje audit poplatkov v ambulanciách, no výsledky doteraz oficiálne nekomunikovalo. Namiesto ministerského dokumentu prišli s analýzami nezávislí experti a ich zistenia ukazujú, ako to naozaj v ambulanciách vyzerá. So závermi prišiel aj expert na zdravotníctvo Peter Pažitný v analýze s názvom Priame platby u špecialistov. V publikácii vysvetľuje, prečo ambulantní lekári vyberajú od pacientov poplatky. Zároveň navrhuje riešenia, ktoré by boli prínosné nielen pre pacientov, ale aj pre samotných lekárov.
