The European Media & Regulation podcast aims to discuss and inform about current media regulation challenges and changes, and how these affect us. The podcast is hosted by EPRA, the European Platform of regulatory authorities.


EPRA

EPRA was set up in 1995 in response to the need for increased co-operation between European regulatory authorities. With its 25 years of experience and a robust network of working-level contacts, EPRA is the oldest and largest network of broadcasting regulators, and is an ideal setting for the exchange of information, cases and best practices between broadcasting regulators in Europe.

EPRA has an informal character to encourage a frank and open exchange of views on issues pertaining to the application of media regulation. Its statutes expressly prohibit the adoption of common positions or declarations.

    The concepts of transparency, trust and critical engagement in the context of journalistic news content increasingly curated and delivered to audience by means of algorithms are issues to be discussed in the second episode of this podcast from EPRA – the European Platform of regulatory authorities.     The podcast is chaired by Mari Velsand, director general at the Norwegian Media Authority and EPRA vice chairperson.

    You will meet Olaf Steenfadt, who heads the Media Ownership Monitor project and the Journalism Trust Initiative at Reporters sans frontiers, Eleonora Maria Mazzoli, who is a researcher in the Data, Networks and Society Programme of the Department of Media and Communications at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Elda Brogi, who is Scientific Coordinator of the Centre for Media Pluralism and Media Freedom at the European University Institute in Florence.
