About this listen

Hey,

It's Nikki & Pao here. We are two besties who love books and everything coffee. We decided to start E&BAD because we wanted to chat books, authors, and basically everything book related while we help bring our community of book lovers closer together. Now pour your coffee and buckle up for the fun!

    Hey book besties,

This episode of Espresso & Books After Dark opens with our signature warning. If spicy books and caffeine fueled chaos are not your thing, this might not be the episode for you. After a quick life update because life has absolutely been lifing, we jump into our January reading wrap up. We talk about how many books we read, whether the month went as expected, which formats we leaned into, any slumps or surprises, and the books that stood out for better or worse. That includes our favorite reads, least favorites respectfully, the biggest surprises, and the books we really wanted to love but did not.

We take a short intermission for shits and giggles where we share a pet peeve or two, bookish or otherwise, before diving into our February hopefuls. We talk about what kind of readers we are heading into the new month, whether we are feeling motivated or burnt out, what vibes we are craving, and which books we are most excited to read next.

We wrap up the episode with a quick recap of January wins, reminders that hopefuls are not must reads, and a preview of next episode featuring a buddy read discussion and a deeper look into who we are as readers. We close things out with our espresso fueled sign off and call it a night. ☕📚
