Emily is the true definition of struggle to success. Facing family hardships at a young ago that led to many mental and emotional struggles- Emily was able to use her personal journey of supporting those with addictions, disease and mental struggle to now educate others through her non-profit organization Mental Makeover. Jessie Elly & Em talk about everything from resilience, avoidance, business, starting a non-profit and the lack of mental health education for so many who struggle in silence. Community and connection are 2 key factors in understanding we are not alone and Emily continues to show others why speaking out is so important. Sparking from a high school friend’s loss of life to suicide- Emily and Co-President Christian were able to tap into a much needed conversation and need. Now with over 5 team members, board, ambassador program, merch line and education programming boxes- Mental Makeover hosts annual events like the Why The Needs You Here Walk and The Freezing For a Reason Polar Plunge to continue to break the stigma and raise awareness.
