From perceived slights to nuanced likes or dislikes, so many people take these as real and then allow it to create issues in their lives and relationships. Not only friend/work/love relationships, but also our relationships with ourselves. It controls our thoughts and emotions and a lot of times doesn't or shouldn't be reflected as real life.
