Error 1: I meant to say "eukaryotes" instead of "karyotes" at 18:04.
Error 2: While discussing X-linked trait inheritance patterns on pedigrees, I forgot to mention tips on how to recognize X-linked dominant traits! Here are some tips on how to identify X-linked dominant traits on pedigrees from the following website: https://migrc.org/teaching-tools/genetic-inheritance-patterns/sexx-linked-dominant/
"After filling in the genotypes for individuals in several family trees that exhibit this mode of inheritance, some patterns that can be noticed are:
- All daughters of a male who has the trait will also have the trait.
- There is no male to male transmission; the trait follows the inheritance of the X-chromosome.
- Sons can have the trait only if their mother also has the trait.
- Same inheritance pattern as autosomal dominant traits in human females" (para. 2).
Error 3: I meant to clarify this in the episode, but "chiasma" refers to one location of crossing over in prophase 1 whereas "chiasmata" refers to multiple locations of crossing over in prophase 1.
I hope this helps you guys!
