About this listen

Psychology has played a role in the development of communications, marketing and advertising since these fields have been around. We have heard about tactics like subliminal advertising, aspirational messaging, and other ways of creating messages to influence others. Understanding why these techniques exist and whether or not they are helpful or harmful are important to marketers is critical to understand how we improve our approach to communications.

In this episode Cathy Faye, the Margaret Clark Morgan Executive Director of the Drs. Nicholas and Dorothy Cummings Center for the History of Psychology at The University of Akron, gives her perspective on the role that psychology has played on marketing and communications.
