About this listen

Hanna Sheehy-Skeffington is the perfect example of a badass rebel. She was a suffragette, feminist, and Irish Nationalist. She had an indomitable spirit who refused to back down after the British murdered her husband and then tried to buy her silence. When that didn’t work, they tried to intimidate her and the one British officer willing to tell the truth. Instead of being intimidated, she went on a tour in the United States, speaking about the murder of her husband and the many abuses the Irish experienced at the hands of the British. She raised her son on her own and continued to fight for Ireland’s freedom and women’s rights up to the day of her death.

Theme song: Arabesque Op.61 by Cécile-Chaminade
