"[M]y altos sang at a fundraiser in Cambridge 2 weeks ago. I thought you might enjoy hearing them. This was from [St. Andrew's] bulletin:

[On] Sunday, March 20, 2022 'The Altos' of St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church Choir performed at a concert in Cambridge, MA – Dance for World Community – Cambridge for UKRAINE. This fundraiser amassed over $18,000 for Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine. Our altos – Halyna Pysak, Ilyana Sawka, Oksana Oliynyk, Yulia Samokhvalova and Tetyana Portyankina – sang three songs and earned a rousing ovation.Ilyana wrote, 'I'm so very grateful to José Mateo Ballet Theatre and Magdalena Gyftopoulos for organizing this event, and raising awareness and funds for individuals affected by the devastating war in Ukraine. And I am in awe of the women (the altos) of the St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Boston choir who volunteered for this performance without hesitation. Our three short rehearsals were filled with focus and determination, with laughter and tears.I was able to speak very briefly with The Harvard Crimson afterwards about this, the most enduring love of my life: Ukrainian vocal music, its symbolism, its beauty and its power.
