About this listen
When we think of ageism, we often think of discrimination against older adults. However, ageism occurs across the entire lifespan; in the tech world, for example, being "old" can start as early as 35. In this episode, Dr. Ittay Mannheim joins us to discuss the intersection of ageism, digital technology, and AI.
In this episode you’ll learn:
- What ageism entails and how it manifests across the lifespan
- How vacancy phrasing and job descriptions can already be biased
- What mixed-methods research is and how it can be applied
- The pitfalls and risks of using AI in job recruitment
- How a hackathon can help address age bias and fairness in AI systems
If you want more information on this topic, you can contact Ittay Mannheim via e-mail at i.mannheim@fsw.leidenuniv.nl or visit anyage.ai to learn more about the research and project.
