在洛杉磯市中心光鮮亮麗的高樓往東步行三分鐘，你會發現城市的面貌急轉直下：帳篷沿著人行道一排排搭起，這裡是著名的遊民巷 Skid Row
這是城市的邊緣，也是人性的交會點。社福機構、非營利組織和教會每天在這裡出沒，提供食物、物資，也替人點亮一點點希望。
而在這條大多數人避開的街區，有一位華人女性的身影十分顯眼。
她叫 周自新，來自台灣。
十一年前，她第一次走進 Skid Row——沒有計畫，也沒有策略，只是想站在那些等候救濟的隊伍旁，聽他們說說話，為他們禱告。
後來，這群等待救濟的遊民成了她心頭上的負擔。每個週日清晨，她在那裡分發食物、日用品，也分享上帝的愛。十一年來，她的手機始終為這群朋友保持開機。
在周自新眼中，Skid Row 不是絕望之地，而是恩典真實發生的現場。
