 【賀の祝（がのいわい）】の場面。
3つ子の兄弟の父親である四郎九郎は河内国の佐太村で菅丞相の領地を預かっていました。四郎九郎は70歳の古希を迎えた長寿の祝いとして「白太夫（しらたゆう）」という名前を菅丞相から名付けられます。誕生日のお祝いに、三つ子の夫婦が集います。しかし、松王丸と梅王丸は吉田神社での諍いから再び喧嘩をし始め、松王丸は勘当されます。一方の桜丸は、斎世親王（ときよしんのう）に舎人として仕え菅丞相の娘の刈屋姫（かりやひめ）との恋の仲立ちをしていました。しかし、その事が原因で菅丞相は流罪にされてしまったのでした。その罪と責任を感じた桜丸は、切腹をします。古希のお祝いの席のはずが、権力闘争に巻き込まれた白太夫一家の悲劇の一幕をご紹介致します。
