 【車引（くるまびき）】は平安時代の初期の頃、京都にある吉田神社の辺りが舞台です。
3つ子の兄弟、松王丸（まつおうまる）、梅王丸（うめおうまる）、桜丸（さくらまる）は、別々の主人に舎人（とねり）として仕えました。松王丸の主人である左大臣の藤原時平（ふじわらのしへい）は、梅王丸の主人で右大臣の菅丞相（かんしょうじょう＝菅原道真がモデル）を陥れようと画策しています。菅丞相は讒言（ざんげん）によって太宰府へ流罪にされてしまうのでした。主人の恨みを晴らそうとしている所に三兄弟が出会い、争いとなります。互いに車を引く、「引き合い事」と呼ばれる縁起を担いだ華やかな場面をご紹介致します。

『車引』は、道真公の悲運を中心に当時話題となった三つ子の誕生を取り入れた『菅原伝授手習鑑（すがわらでんじゅてならいかがみ）』の三段目の口にあたります。二世竹田出雲、並木千柳、三好松洛による合作で、1746年8月に大坂竹本座で人形浄瑠璃として初演、翌月には歌舞伎で上演されました。©2023 Audible Originals, LLC. (P)2023 Audible Originals, LLC.
