Jadis, il y avait dans le monde 10 Soleils. Ils habitaient à Tanggu, un grand lac situé dans les régions orientales. Les dix Soleils passaient là leurs journées à se baigner et s'amuser; aussi l'eau du lac était-elle bouillante pendant les quatre saisons de l'année. C’est ainsi qu'a commencé l'histoire de l'archer du nom de Yi.
