 Nell’ultimo periodo della sua vita Amedeo si lega a una ragazza più giovane di lui, che ha delle ambizioni artistiche: Jeanne Hébuterne. La famiglia di lei non è contenta di questo legame, ma i due hanno una figlia: la chiameranno come la madre, Jeanne. Le opere di Amedeo iniziano a ricevere qualche riconoscimento, ma lui è sempre più malmesso: beve troppo e la sua salute è pessima. Quando Amedeo ha appena trentacinque anni, la sua vita ha un finale tragico, quasi da tragedia greca. Da quel momento, però, il mondo si accorgerà con sempre più forza del genio di Amedeo Modigliani.
